It can be hard being a Mental Health First Aider and it's easy to doubt yourself and wonder if you are getting things right. This course has been designed to support Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAider) to feel more confident in their conversations and the support they offer to others.
Running through the session will be a theme; such as grief, stress or anxiety. The theme prompts MHFAiders to consider how they would apply the tools they learnt on the 2-day course, including the ALGEE framework, their empathy and listening skills and a reminder of useful websites to support the area being discussed.
This course is designed to be run regularly as the 'theme' will be different each session. This enables MHFAiders to reflect on how support could be given in different scenarios.
Our courses are designed to provide inclusive and enjoyable learning experiences so there is no role play or forced contribution. Instead, leaners are supported with guidance, resources, tools and tips to help them fully understand and action the training content. There is no end of course test, but upon successful completion of the course learners will be emailed an electronic attendance certificate and course handout.
The course is broken down into easy to follow modules;
Being a MHFAider - common challenges and worries
Session theme - a useful reminder of an important area
Tools to support you
Scenarios to consider
